Nails v. Staples explained.

Don't use staples for wood flooring. They hold too good and can't recover from upsets. The cleats on these offer several advantages. First off, youcan get a board up without busting it. This is handy because some combinaions don't work--you TOO will have to do it and the board can be cut and reused somewhere else. Staples will bust the board and then you'll have to pull them or drive them down. I studied this topic for a long while on flooring websites. Also, if you get water damage, the boards may lift a bit and you can re-set the boards when they dry out. It doesn't work all the time, but it never works with staples. If I get a squeaky spot, I nail right through the face and the nail goes out of sight. I might fill in the tiny divot it leaves. Or maybe not.I used these in the cheap NuMax nailer Amazon sells and had maybe 5 jams for the entire floor. Cheaper than a rental and I don't have to rush.We were nailing 1" clear 1/4 sawn hemlock flooring I got from Portland, Or. Beautiful 10" planks. I'll put in a picture when it's all stained. Won't be long before this quality of wood is not available.

Good Flooring nails.

They are nails. What can I say. They never jammed the gun. I'm satisfied.
